Peculiarities of the establishment and functions of the leadership in female franciscan monasteries in the territory of Galicia in the second half of XIX beginning of XX century

Abstract
On the basis of archival sources the article reveals peculiarities of the establishment of a management in the female franciscan congregation in Galicia in the second half of the XIX – early XX century. In all congregations there was a clear division of responsibilities between nuns. The common feature was that superior general was the head of the congregation. In particular superior general was on top while provincial and local prioresses were subordinated to her. The general and provincial councils were advisory bodies that helped directly in managing the congregation. The superior general performed the duties assigned to her and was responsible for the functioning of the congregation. It was also common that the post of the superior general was elective, and all the requirements for the candidate were clearly documented in the constitutions. They were elected for a certain period of time with the possibility of being re-elected for another cadence. In all the congregations elections were held by secret ballot, and nobody was released from participation in them. The nuns faithfully performed their duties, which were prescribed to them by all the reports, lists and other documents.
