PECULIARITY OF MORPHOPHONOLOGICAL PHENOMENA IN LEXICAL DERIVATION IN UKRAINIAN

Abstract
In this article the notion of morphophoneme in different linguistic studies of 20th century is analyzed. Its detailed definition is also presented here. The research also focuses on basic morphophonemic phenomena, which support the process of lexical derivation. Typical for the Ukrainian language morphophonological processes are described. Among them are alternation, interfixation, interference, elision, and accent change. Differences between alternation and interfixation, morpheme interference and haplology are presented. The paper confirms that the stress change during the derivation depends on derivative types. Besides, stress mobility in inflexion and derivation does not coincide.
