Abstract
Os chamados estilos históricos ou estilos de época foram criados a partir dos programas de idéias e ação dos filósofos e, sobretudo, artistas. Todavia, necessitamos fazer uma revisão da cultura desde os interesses exclusivos dos seus historiadores. Uma investigação sobre a marginalização do significado das descobertas portuguesas e da obra camoniana serve para demonstrá-lo ao recuperar a importância da cultura lusitana no grande contexto cultural do mundo contemporâneo, mostrando que os eventos delimitadores são mais relevantes que os movimentos artístico- filosóficos em si, a despeito de toda a distorção que esses movimentos causam na percepção histórico-cultural.
