Philosophy of organization as a practical method of organization functioning

Abstract

Economic challenges of the market, changing society as well as technological environment set up new objectives for modern business, production organiz ations as well as academic institutions. Besides the economic interests, public and productive forces, the importance of both cultural norms and values in organization as well as complex social process, where the leading role is pl ayed by the most important factor – human potential, human resources, their creativity, adaptability to novelties , become evident. This preconditions the changes in the attitude towards the organization – the need to describe it not only in economic terms, but to give a broader perspective, to eval uate all relations, culture, the hierarchy of social values, etc. occurs. What is the best way to describe these relations? What is the term including its full spectrum? Can it be guaranteed by the te rm ,,organizational culture“? The term Philosophy is polysemous. Sometimes it is us ed in different meanings, that is why it should be analysed regarding this semantic variety. The article analyses the perception of the essence of organization philosophy, describing practical applicati on of term, which nowadays is polysemous and is separated from the term sophistry in ancient Greece. However, some parallels may be found between traditional philosophical understanding and modern use of the term. It has been observed that by analys ing this concept it is possible to speak about the organizational philosophy of all world organizations or just the organizational philosophy of a single organization by emphasizing different aspects. In the contemporary society market economy conditions general laws , not only the ones of economical management, but also other societal management laws become important. That is why majority of authors from different countries think that the term philosophy reflects all processes, disappearing from the society, that solve practical factors of society functioning in the most effective way. That is why the organizational philosophy, describing practical society problems may be perceived as sophistry in its antique sense, i.e. its manifestation in public, as philosophy adapted to everyday life, which, like in the ancient Greece, is trying to interpret practical means of the society functioning.
