PIANO CYCLE OF YURIY SHAMO “CHILDREN’S SUITE IN MEMORY OF SERHIY PROKOFYEV”: TO THE QUESTION OF ENRICHMENT THE PEDAGOGICAL REPERTOIRE

Abstract
The study examines the piano works of the prominent Ukrainian composer Yuriy Shamo, who lived in Germany for a long time. The authors highlight the milestones of the artist’s life and work. Yuriy Shamo is the author of 7 symphonies, concerts for flute, violin and cello with orchestra, five choral cycles, music for theater performances and films. But the artist most actively worked in the genre of the piano music. The composer has taught music and theoretical disciplines for more than 30 years at the State Institute of Culture, Academy of Leadership in Culture and Arts. In 2000, the American Biographic Institute awarded him the honorary title “Man of the Year – 2000” for the outstanding contribution to the development of the world musical culture. The works of the composer are regularly performed at international competitions, entered the musical and pedagogical repertoire of musical schools, colleges and conservatories. Performing a musicological and methodological analysis of the “Children’s Suite in memory of Serhiy Prokofyev”, researchers penetrate the genre and style features of the plays, their rich artistic imagery, impressive presentation, dashed and dynamic palette. “Children’s Suite in memory of Serhiy Prokofyev” consists of four plays: “Gavotte”, “March”, “Minuet” and “Waltz”. The analyzed piano cycle of Y. Shamo “Children’s Suite in memory of Serhiy Prokofyev” has a great pedagogical value. Since these plays represent modern versions of ancient dance genres, as well as based on romantic and modern means of composing writing. Their application in educational programs of educational institutions of different levels will deepen the educational and cognitive process of musical and aesthetic education of youth.
