ПОШИРЕННЯ РЕФОРМАЦІЇ НА ТЕРЕНАХ СПИСЬКОГО КОМІТАТУ У XVI СТ.

Abstract
In this article considering the penetration process and character of Reformation on the Spishsky committee of Eastern Slovakia during 16th century. Are consided and analyzed issues what relating to activity individual religious organizations and Reformation’s leaders, adopting and consolidating of Reformation ideas in the spirituality life of society, their estimation and value. During the first half of the XVI century the Spiš (Szepes) region of Slovakia undergoes gradual transformation to the Protestantism. There had beenthe Reformation views in Spiš before 1526, but originally they were limited to more narrow circles and did not cause any substantial external changes in the clerical life. In the first phase of the Reformation movement the issue of primary importance was for the newly-formed religious trends to gain followers, which took precedence over the church reforms.The Reformation-oriented ideas were spread with the assistance of merchants from the royal and mining Slovakian cities, who, having returned from Germany, brought the news about Martin Luther as well as the books reflecting his views. After the Augsburg Confession was adopted in 1530, the Reformation movement in Spišcountywas in full swing, having developed new and more powerful functional properties. At that time there appear new propagators of the Luther doctrine. The following religious activists can be singled out: Yurii Levdisher, Yan Genkel, Vavrinets Quendel Serpilium, Vavrinets Buchwalt, Shalamun Regner, Damian Graf, Matey, Valentyn Megander-Grosman, Cyriak Obsopij-Kox, Anton Topertser and Gregor Filker. The recognition of Spiš fraternity «Confessio Scepusiana» consisting of 24 royal priests can be considered the apogee of religious life in Spiš as well as one of the most significant sources of the Slovakian Reformation. Though the very content of the document is not original, as it practically replicates the previous Confession of Faith, i.e. it is based on the texts of «Confessio Pentapolitana» and «Confessio Heptapolitana», it advances its own theses set out in the spirit of the Augsburg Confession. At the meeting held on 26 October 1569 the text of the Confession of Faith was presented to the fraternity of Spiš priests, where it was approved and signed by all the priests of Spiš Municipal Seniorate. Thus, during the second half of the XVI century the Reformation processes covered practically all Slovakian lands. In Spiš the spread of the Reformation was fast and successful, and its followers could act within the framework of already existing structures and establishments of the Catholic Church within the period covering the whole XVI century and the beginning of XVII century.
