Pracownicy i użytkownicy szkolnych multimedialnych centrów informacji w Polsce

Abstract
The article refl ects on the phenomenon of school multimedia information centers (MIC) in the context of their creators, employees and potential users. It presents Polish school librarians as pioneers of new ideas, their enthusiasm during the MIC creation and opinion on the project after 16 years after its inception. Despite unfavorable conditions for school libraries, their importance for rational education and upbringing of the young generation has been demonstrated. The MIC users have been characterized as, on one hand, people prone to being infl uenced by technology and media civilization, and on the other, as individuals seeking support in teachers’ fi gures. It was found that abandoning the idea of multimedia information centers to return to the previous model of school library or school without a library, will imply further educational problems. The text is complemented with an attachment containing the author's publications refl ecting the efforts undertaken by the school and academic environments to develop the idea of MIC in the country. They indicate the occurring diffi culties and ways of overcoming them, and promote examples of good practice in this area.
