Preparation of Fluorophlogopite Glass-ceramic Powder by Sol-gel Method

Abstract
Taking Mg ( NO3) _2·6H2O, Al ( NO3) _3·9H2O, NH4 F, NaF, CO ( NH2) _2and silica sol as raw materials, the powder of fluorophlogopite ( NaMg3AlSi3O10F2) was prepared by sol-gel method. The effects of the heat treatment temperature on the crystal phase composition and crystal growth of fluorophlogopite powder were investigated by using X-Ray diffraction ( XRD) , differential thermal analysis/thermogravimetric ( DTA/TG) , field emission scanning electron microscope ( FESEM) and transmission electron microscope ( TEM) . The results show that the crystal phase composition of the synthetic powders has characteristic of glass ceramic. The particle size is 30 nm. After heat-treated, the proportion of crystal increases significally, and the morphology is larger lamellars. The fluorophlogopite phase starts crystallization obviously at 500 ℃. With temperature increasing, the crystallization rate of fluorophlogopite improve greatly, and the impure phases are also reduced obviously.
