PRINCIPLES OF PHYTOTOXICOLOGICAL NORMALIZATION OF METALS

Abstract

Purpose. To create principles of phytotoxic normalization of metals in soil. Methodology. Using the approach of calculation the Maximum Acceptable Toxicant Concentration, it has been proposed the calculation of Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration of metal in soil (1N HCl) (on the example of agroecosystem of spring barley). Using the probit analysis, the phytolethal dose decreasing 5% of biomass has been obtained. Results. Metal concentration in unpolluted soil, and Phytoletal Dose which causes the 5% reduction of biomass have been obtained for calculation of Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration of metal in soil. Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration of each metal in soil (1N HCl) has been highlighted. The highest value of Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration was for zinc, the least – for cadmium. We obtained the following ranking of the metals according to Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration: Cd> Ni≥Pb≥Cu> Co> Zn (sod podzolic soil) and Cd> Pb> Ni> Cu≥Co> Zn (typical low-humus chernozem). According to the Phytolethal Dose decreasing 5% of biomass the metals are arranged in the row: Cd> Ni> Co> Cu> Pb> Zn (sod podzolic soil), Cd> Cu> Ni> Co> Pb> Zn (chernozem). Originality. For the first time, we obtained the Phytolethal Dose of Cd2+, Zn2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Pb2+ in soil increasing 5 % of biomass. The Phyto Maximum Allowable Concentration of each metal in soil has been calculated. Practical value. Phytotoxicological regulation allows not only assess ecological risk for the creation of optimal management of ecological safety, but also characterize the toxicity of the pollutant in relation to the biological object.
