Probabilistic design of high-rise buildings with two stochastic components of wind velocity

Abstract
This paper proposes a consistent method for the stochastic analysis of high-rise building under along-wind aerodynamic actions. Stochastic actions are related to spatial-temporal changeability of wind velocity and spatial dependence of aerodynamic coefficient. Instantaneous stochastic wind velocity is given by the sum of a macro-meteorological component, defined as the stochastic mean wind velocity on average time interval, and a micro-meteorological com-ponent, defined as the stochastic atmospheric longitudinal turbulence. The probabilistic design of high-rise buildings is carried out with the account of stochastic properties of structure material. Consecutive statement illustrates the simplicity and precision of this method. Be-cause of this simplicity and precision, the meth-od is suitable for use in design offices as a means of providing rapid estimates of the stochastic dynamic response and reliability estima-tion of the high-rise buildings.
