Proces przeprowadzania zmian w układzie zbiorów magazynowych Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej UWM w Olsztynie

Abstract
Contemporary problems with organizing the collections in academic libraries tend to focus around the management of open access collections. However, this does not exhaust the subject. Part of the resources offered by academic libraries are stored in closed warehouses or in component libraries. The issue of library materials available only to the reader through library catalogs is rarely taken up. Usually it appears in the context of the implementation of a new library cataloging system and the following changes in library processing procedures. The Olsztyn University Library (UL) launched a task defi ned as the change in the organization of compact sets in June 2011. The concept of a stock number, which consists in giving the volumes an individual mark is an original and economic idea which permits to fully use the storage space, as well as proves the library staff’s creativity. The article discusses the new organization of the collections in the UL’s repository and the resulting consequences for all the librarian’s activities. The author describes the execution and conceptualisation of the project and carries out the analysis of problems that turn up during the implementation process. Simultaneously, she presents possible solutions and points out the benefi ts of the implementation of the project for both library staff and users.
