Abstract
In article the essence of the concept foreign language competence of the personality and features of its formation on students at higher educational institutions reveals. The content of project-based learning and its role in the formation of English-speaking communicative competence is analyzed; administrative functions of the teacher of English in preparation by students of the project are characterized.
