Promoting interest in research: A look at the role of the teacher in promoting the scientific culture of university students

Abstract

The debate on the quality of education persists globally, reflecting its importance in the development and strengthening of nations in the face of the numerous challenges and opportunities presented by the 21st century, highlighting research in the academic field as a fundamental factor in achieving these purposes. . Therefore, the objective of this research focuses on discussing the importance of the teacher's role in the construction of the scientific culture of students belonging to the field of higher education. The study was developed following a non-experimental approach, with a methodology that was based on documentary and descriptive analysis. To this end, an exhaustive review of a variety of sources, relevant bibliography and previous research works was carried out. The findings highlight that the role of the teacher is significant in promoting and fostering a scientific culture among university students and also indicate that the pedagogical strategies implemented by educators, such as the development of directed research projects, incorporation of active methodologies of learning, promotion of curiosity, critical thinking and accompaniment with respect and warmth, have a significant impact on increasing interest in research among students
