Przestrzeganie zaleceń medycznych przez pacjentów w wieku podeszłym

Abstract
Nieprzestrzeganie zaleceń medycznych, w tym dotyczących stosowania leków, jest niezwykle częstym zjawiskiem wśród chorych w wieku podeszłym. Przyczyny tego zjawiska są złożone i obejmują aspekty psychologiczne, psychopatologiczne i fizjologiczne związane z pacjentem (takie jak przekonania zdrowotne, zaburzenia funkcji poznawczych, objawy lękowe i depresyjne, problemy ze wzrokiem i słuchem), aspekty związane z lekarzem (w tym jego umiejętnościami edukacyjnymi i komunikacyjnymi) oraz obiektywne czynniki utrudniające stosowanie się do zaleceń (związane z dostępnością do świadczeń i funkcjonowaniem systemu ochrony zdrowia, ale też rodzajem schorzenia, typem i formą stosowanego leczenia). Identyfikacja nieprzestrzegania zaleceń i wdrażanie metod zmierzających do jego poprawy mogą mieć istotne znaczenie dla poprawy efektywności i bezpieczeństwa stosowanych metod leczniczych, redukcji związanego z chorobami cierpienia i poprawy jakości życia chorych, zmniejszenia śmiertelności i chorobowości oraz związanych z nimi kosztów, a także mogą przyczynić się do większej satysfakcji pacjentów i lekarzy z procesu diagnostyczno-terapeutycznego i poprawy ogólnej oceny funkcjonowania systemu ochrony zdrowia.
