Abstract
The article deals with natural and artifi cial radioactivity, units of their measurement. Radioactive decay concepts reveals, half-life decay, mass defect. Also series of natural radioactive decay of elements consider with the visual display of one of them. units of measure activity in solid, liquid, gaseous environment presented and on the surface of different objects. The characteristic of the basic dosimetric quantity measurement with estimated effect of radiation on the environment and human specifying units of measurement in different environments. The concepts such as quality factor, the coeffi cient of radiation risk from bringing their quantitative indicators described. Specifi ed the most dangerous ways of penetration of radioactive substances to human body. Respiratory considered and the sequence of production the simplest of them.
