Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of modern Russian writer Alexander Potemkin’s dialogue with his predecessors—Alexander Pushkin, Nicholas Gogol, Alexander Sukhovo-Kobylin, Ivan Goncharov. Intertextual connections with Pushkin’s «Dubrovsky» (the opportunity to pick up someone else’s property with the help of officials), Gogol’s «The Overcoat» (hero of Alexander Potemkin’s phantasmagoric play «The Desk» becomes so integrated into his status of a bureaucrat not only becomes an intrinsic part of his desk, he also begins to experience amorous feelings for it as poor Akaky Akakievich for new overcoat as a «pleasant girlfriend») are sated. The way the bureaucrats of provincial Velsk conjecture about Puzyrkov is reminiscent of the way the bureaucrats in Nikolai Gogol’s «Dead Souls» conjecture about Chichikov. Characterological role of intertext in Potemkin’s novels is considered in the research and allow understanding the writer’s world outlook.
