Abstract
This paper aims at presenting the analysis of a research on interferences when choosing the Higher Technological Program in Events, offered by FURG at Santa Vitória do Palmar Campus. The data were collected through a questionnaire applied to the public in general at an event and to senior high school students. Among others, some aspects analyzed in the study were the social representations related to technological higher education programs compared with technical courses in order to understand to what extent this common sense knowledge influenced when choosing a technological program. It was observed that the production chain plays an important role in the consolidation of these programs. It was concluded that unknown concepts of technical courses and technological programs interpose a barrier for a suitable choice. It was also noticed that the low demand comes along with some of the city’s structural insufficiencies.
