Representation of the emotions of characters in children’s fiction: translation aspects

Abstract
The article deals with the problems of representation of emotions of characters in the English-Ukrainian translation of children’s fiction. Following his own emotional competence, a translator chooses lexical and syntactic language means typical of the corresponding emotive situation in the target language. Such emotionally marked or emotive means perform an important function, since they give the reader the insight into the inner world of characters ensuring adequate understanding of the author’s message.
