REPRESENTATIVE AND OPPORTUNISTIC PARADIGM OF THE FORMS OF A SPANISH VERB

Abstract

The research focuses on the studying of connotative meanings of the forms of a Spanish verb in various spheres of communicative situation, its representative and opportunistic paradigm. For the practical mastery of a foreign language, an indispensable condition is the comprehension of the functioning of linguistic units in various spheres of verbal communication. The functional approach to language helps to reveal the direct connections of language and society, the structure of language and speech, to reveal the intrasystem distribution of language facilities, to find out the specificity of their stylistic implementation. Time forms of verbs of the Spanish language have a large variety of semantic meanings. On the basis of the situational-speech functions of the time forms of the verb there are two paradigms: representative and situational. A representative paradigm indicates the time of speech implementation. Representative paradigm of time forms is represented mainly by the verbs of speaking and perception. The main forms of the representative paradigm are Presente and Pretérito Indefinido of the Indicative Mood. The situational paradigm reflects the timeliness of the events in question, from the moment of speech, and timeless, beyond the situational meaning, which is not related to a specific speech situation. In a situational paradigm, according to the two principal times of a representative paradigm, two subgroups differ: the first reflects the direct correspondence with the moment of the speech, and its principal form is the Presente of the Indicative Mood. The main form of the second subgroup of the time forms of the situational paradigm is the Pretérito Indefinido of the Indicative Mood. The extreme polysemanticism of the forms of the Spanish verb has a significant influence on the development of broad variational relationships with verbal constructions. The question of the basic values and the number of additional values of times in contemporary Spanish is unresolved and controversial.
