REQUALIFICAÇÃO DO PERÍMETRO DA FAVELA DO JARDIM EDITH EM SÃO PAULO: PERCEPÇÕES INICIAIS SOBRE A HOSPITALIDADE NO ESPAÇO URBANO

Abstract
This article discusses the formation of Jardim Edith’s slum, in the city of São Paulo, and the project Operação Urbana Consorciada Água Espraiada, which is aimed to revitalize the region of the former Água Espraiada Avenue, current Jornalista Roberto Marinho Avenue, which included Jardim Edith’s slum. Later on, this study will address the speculator investment of a large real estate group in the region in the 70s of the twentieth century. For the critical analysis proposed, this study used literature related to urban spaces and concepts of urban segregation, discussed by Rolnik (2012); hospitality in urban spaces proposed by Grinover (2007); readability of place, proposed by Lynch (2011); the historicity of clipping geographic approached by Frúgoli Jr. (2000), as well as official documents of the Municipality of São Paulo, among others. This work is focused on exposing the possibility of redevelopment related to inclusion, the conflicts generated out of from large urban and social changes and the role of hospitality in urban spaces, involving government, entrepreneurs, community and beneficiaries.
