In the study of the professional I&concept the author relied upon the fact that the professional I&concept, as a combination of conceptions about personal professional development, is “responsible” for the absence of inner conflicts, harmony and well&being and for the sense of personal professional and career success. It was discovered that the structure of the professional I&concept consists of the cognitive, emotional, behavioural and regulative components. Based on the analysis of the scientific literature it was concluded that the most important things for the cognitive and emotional components of the operational&investigative units officers professional I&concept are career orientations, self& effectiveness, self&assessment, emotions connected with success achievement and professional tasks solving failures suffering. The cognitive component was studied with the help of the “Career orientations” questionnaire of E. Shane (readapted by A.O. Zhdanovych) and the self&effectiveness level evaluation test of J. Maddux and M. Sheer(modification by L. Boiaryntseva). The emotional component was studied using the “Personality self&assessment” methodsin version of S. A. Budassi; T. Ellers tests “Success achievement motivation” and “Failure avoidance motivation”. As a result of the conducted study it was discovered that the cognitive component of the OIU officers professional I&concept is characterized by the predominance of the vertical professional advancement aspiration; desire to be real experts with inadequate attentionto further training; safety and security needs; stability; social protection. At the same time successful professional activity is better subserved by the orientation toward horizontal career; achievement aspiration; self&realization through collaboration; responsibility; social value; creative activities; spiritual satisfaction; active social contacts. Herewith among the majority of the officers the average level of self&effectiveness prevails.
