Abstract
Las enfermedades cardiovasculares han evolucionado en los últimos años en correspondencia con el desarrollo socioeconómico de los paÃses y el aumento de factores de riesgo. Aunque la mortalidad por cardiopatÃa isquémica ha disminuido en paÃses desarrollados, sigue siendo la principal causa de muerte allà y está en aumento en paÃses en vÃas de desarrollo. Los factores de riesgo cardiovascular se relacionan con caracterÃsticas personales, estilos de vida y problemas de salud que pueden causar daños en las arterias y provocar arteriosclerosis
