Role of Phraseological Units in the Formation of Professional Culture Speech of Future Elementary School Teachers

Abstract

The article analyses the role of the educational discipline ''Professionally-Oriented Ukrainian Language '' in the setting of future primary education teachers. It has been elucidated that in the process of studying the students learn to deal with texts of different speech styles, develop their public speaking skills, improve their professionally-oriented culture abilities, and master their conscious usage of phraseological units in oral and written speech in particular. The article is dedicated to the analysis of main features and classification of idioms. The usage of phraseological units makes oral communication more colorful and interesting, the speech acquires original and felicitous effect, and it can also lead to tension reduction in conflict situations. The tasks have been worked out for mastering of conscious usage of idioms in oral and written professionally-oriented texts. The authors stress on the importance of laborious and attentive work in the process of translating Russian idioms into Ukrainian and vice versa. It is underlined that editing tasks are aimed at developing students' written speech skills and form critical attitude towards the choice of idiomatic expressions. Students' vocabulary can be successfully enlarged due to the tasks of choosing synonyms and antonyms. It has been identified that the students' acquaintance with the Biblical phraseological fund can be not only the means of history and culture perception, but the means of the formation of moral and ethical values. Creative tasks can contribute to students' permanent interest to idiomatic variety of Ukrainian and perfection of speaking culture. The suggested tasks should teach students to communicate in any professional situation using the acquired lexical skills.
