Journal Title: Tıp Eğitimi Dünyası - Year 2017, Vol 16, Issue 48
Abstract
ABSTRACT: Problem-based learning has been at the center of the first three years of educational program at Dokuz Eylül University Medical School, since almost twenty years. In this context, it is necessary to determine the opinions of the students on problem-based learning and related processes. In this study we aimed to develop instruments to determine the perceptions of students on the operation of problem-based learning related processes, its gains, and on their skills in self regulated learning. While the target population of the study consisted of 328 undergraduate students at Dokuz Eylül University Medical School, 70.7% could be reached. Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis were used to investigate the results. By this study we managed to develop five valid and reliable scales. We suggest that verifying the validity and reliability of the scales in other medical schools that use problem-based learning will be useful.
