Abstract

The article describes the essence and structure of the school Euroclub as a form of student self-government in a general educational institution. Basic information is provided to help understand what student self-government is. Dif- ferent approaches to organization of pupils' self-government are analyzed. The characteristic periods of formation and development of pupils’ self-government in the Ukrainian school are outlined and the emergence of Euroclubs in Ukraine is evidenced by the European integration aspirations of Ukraine. Today the school has a task to prepare such a graduate who will feel comfortable in the mobile European educational space. School Euroclub not only ensures the participation of students in diverse and deeply contentful work of the school, but also prompts the management of affairs of the team, helps to understand their rights and responsibilities, forms the feel- ing of a leader at the school level, then at the level of the city and the state, translates pan-European democratic values, introduces participants in the educational process to the way of life and culture of the European population, promotes the presentation of the culture of one’s own country and lifestyle. It has been shown that today pupils’ self-government gets a deeper, participative character. The Euroclub of a comprehensive educational institution is considered as an effective form of self-organization of stu- dents, united by the idea of European integration, a new form of communication between teachers and students. Examples of successfully implemented initiatives by “Bdzhelka” Euroclub of Kharkiv Specialized School No. 73 and Kharkiv City Organization of Student Self-Government (KhMOUS) are presented. It is noted that the value of students’ self-government is that students deeply and comprehensively penetrate the essence of their rights and responsibilities, which increases their civic activity, self-awareness, and life competence. It is concluded that in the conditions of independent Ukraine in the educational process of general educational insti- tutions it is expedient to use theoretical achievements and practical benefits of scholars and teachers of previous epochs in the sphere of organization of students’ self-government.
