Scouting as an Upbringing form of Children and Youth

Abstract
This article describes the role of scout organizations in education and upbringng of children and youth. The organization and scout activities have been characterized. A concept of scouting by Janusz Korczak has been described. Also, the characterisation of scout method as a manner of upbringng has been described in this article. On the basis of an empirical research, the main role of Związek Harcerstwa Rzeczypospolitej in the educational processes of children and youth has been presented; Związek Harcerstwa Rzeczpospolitej complements the upbringing process that occurs in schools and among families. It teaches, among others, such values as responsibility, discipline, resourcefulness and friendship.
