SETTLEMENT AND CEMETERY FROM ХІІ–ХІІІ CENTURIES IN DUBNO ON KEMPA ISLAND

Abstract

The results of new archeological researches of settlement and cemetery from XII–XIII centuries in Dubno on Kempa island, which was carried out in 2014–2017 are presented at the article. Besides remains of household ware, that allows to characterize material culture of residents of the island, 7 burials were found here. This is the first burial complex discovered on the territory of Dubno from time of Kyiv-Russ state. Stratigraphic observations show that burial complex appeared later, than people started to live here. According to this fact it probably belongs to residents of the island. As a result of the field researches one of rare types of burial on the island in Slavic-Russ time is exposed. The local character of burial complex, features of material culture and topographic peculiarities allow us to confirm that this area was settled by a group of people who were related by generic bonds and occupied some original social or economic niche in life of annalistic Dubno.
