WATERCOLOR DRAWINGS BY MSTISLAV FARMAKOVSY FROM THE ARCHIVE OF THE BOHDAN AND VARVARA KHANENKO NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ARTS

Abstract
The article is focused on the newly discovered source of the history of collections of The Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Arts (Kyiv) – 37 watercolor drawings of ancient objects (figured terracotta vessels, Roman glass etc.) dates back to the beginning of the XX century by Russian artist and restorer Mstislav Farmakovsky (1873–1946), who was a brother of well-known archaeologist Boris Farmakovsky and a student of one of the prominent specialists on Greek and Roman antiquities in Russian Empire, director of the Archaeological Museum in Odessa Ernst von Stern. This publication contains: general description of the drawings and inscriptions and marks on the sheets and the folder where they are stored, that allow specifying the attributive data of the sheets and the objects depicted; suggestions concerning the circumstances of creation and the dating of undated pictures; a list of the 12 items, both original and fakes, preserved in the museum to nowadays etc.
