SINGLE-PHASE LINE START PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR WITH SKEWED STATOR
Journal Title: Power Electronics and Drives - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Background: The article deals with single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor with skewed stator. Material and methods: Constructions of two physical motor models are presented. Field-circuit motor models were applied in Maxwell software. After software calculations two physical motor models were built: with skewed and unskewed stator. Results of the motors running properties are analysed. Results: Laboratory investigation shows that single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor with skewed stator has noteworthy less torque ripple and vibration but simultaneously a little bit lower efficiency. Conclusions: Application of skewed stator in single-phase line start permanent magnet synchronous motor causes: - a little bit lower back EMF, - a little bit lower efficiency, - less torque ripple, - less motor vibration.

Effects of Grid Disturbances on Current Source Rectifier Controlled by FCS-MPC Algorithm
Nowadays, the increasing number of non-linear loads influences the grid, causing grid voltage disturbances. These disturbances may be very dangerous for the equipment and can create faults in converter behaviour. However...
Dynamic Performance of Estimator-Based Speed Sensorless Control of Induction Machines using Extended and Unscented Kalman Filters
This paper presents an estimator-based speed sensorless field oriented control (FOC) method for induction machines, where the state estimator is based on a self-contained, non-linear model. This model characterizes both...
A METHOD OF REDUCING SWITCH COUNT IN THREE-LEVEL NPC INVERTER – ANALYSIS IN STEADY STATES
The aim of the paper is to present a proof of concept for a new method of modulation which reduce switch count in three-level neutral point clamped (3L-NPC) inverter. The method is an implementation of space vector modul...
CONTROL OF DOUBLY FED INDUCTION GENERATOR AT GRID VOLTAGE IMBALANCE
The paper presents properties and control of doubly fed induction machine operating under unbalanced grid voltage conditions. The proposed method does not include symmetrical se-quences decomposition and is realized in a...
Extended T-type Inverter
This paper presents a new concept of a power electronic converter – the extended T-type (eT) inverter, which is a combination of a three-phase inverter and a three-level dc/dc converter. Novel converter shows better perf...
