Journal Title: Prohominum - Year 2023, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Motivation is an intrinsic and/or extrinsic force that inspires to continue on a certain path or purpose. In the case of university students, to complete their education and obtain the expected academic degree. However, motivation is usually associated with external elements, such as economic, family, social, and personal. That is why this research aims to determine the relationship between the social economic crisis and its impact on university student motivation. In order to meet this challenge, a quantitative methodology was used. It is a descriptive field research. The techniques and instruments applied will be the survey, interview and observation of university students who voluntarily and anonymously decided to participate in this research. The results showed that university students have had to enter the labor field in order to be able to pay university expenses and support their families, since with the economic crisis that the country is going through, income has decreased in the homes of the Ecuadorian population. Therefore, we conclude that the economic and social crisis has had a negative impact on the motivation of university students, making it increasingly difficult for them to continue their studies
