Social transformation in Drohobych region (1944 – 1953)

Abstract
Modern socio-political processes in Ukraine demonstrate the importance of the study of social transformations in historical and regional dimensions. The article traces the main factors and the factors that affect social change in Drohobych region in terms of recovery and consolidation of the Soviet regime in the region in the early postwar years. The social strati¿ cation of the population in those years is shown. The basic social area groups, their development and status in the post-war days are determined. It is proved that the social structure of the totalitarian society was rigidly determined, any effects could destroy the main social boundaries – between the ruling elite (the higher strata of business, party, state nomenclature) and the rest of society, changes in social and professional structure of the population of the region contributed especially its more rapid Sovietization.
