Some precision about the nomenclature and distribution of Coccothrinax yuraguana (Arecaceae)
Journal Title: Monteverdia - Year 2018, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
The objective is to establish precisions about the nomenclature and distribution of Coccothrinax yuraguana, a species of endemic palm from western Cuba that is threatened with extinction. An analysis was made of 18 documentary sources that make reference to the taxon (including two protologists), 39 specimens corresponding to five herbaria and field information collected by the author. A lectotype is designated and the presence of four isolectotypes is reported in two herbaria from Cuba and the United States. The species is reported for the first time for the province of Artemisa.
