SPECIFIC FEATURES OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING IN VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Abstract
This article is devoted to the analysis of the concepts of modern educational environment. The penetration of advanced information technologies and networks into education have changed the stable view on learning environment, created a new educational paradigm and a new type of educational environment – “virtual learning environment”. Information technologies and computers have transformed the ways of gaining knowledge, increased the speed with which information spreads; they have given the possibility for e&learning and for transition from education for a person’s whole life to education through a whole life or life long learning. The author gives the features and functions of virtual learning environment, reveals the conditions of its effective performance. The above mentioned trends in education have resulted in the changes of methods of teaching in particular. It is stressed that teaching foreign languages in conditions of virtual educational environment has certain advantages as well as some problems which appear in the process of learningand teachers must be aware of them. A special attention in this articleiss given to the possibilities of e&learning, based on MOODLE software platform, and the necessity of the systematic use of information technologies in teaching foreign languages. The author comes to the conclusion that the effectiveness of this process depends to a large extend on the unique combination of traditional and well advanced pedagogical technologies with the use of networking advantages for communication and creation conditions for individual educational environment.
