THEORETICAL - METHODOLOGICAL TEACHING BASICS OF THE DISCIPLINE «PRINTS»: STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

Abstract

The structure and the contents of the subject «Prints» in the theoretical - methodological aspect, specification of its theoretical and methodological foundations in particular, are described in the article. There is introduced an idea that training students in theory and teaching methods of printmaking are an integral part of the educational process at the faculty of art – graphics. Printmaking classes facilitate the development of a number of students’ specific qualities, among which we can distinguish a particular culture and professional skills to form an image in more conventional than in painting, plastic art forms. It is highlighted that today all aspects of the educational and creative activities and educational process in the classroom workshops at graphic art-graphic faculties of pedagogical universities need to be study. Therefore, these kinds of research are proved to be very important, since they help to reveal the essence of theory and practice of teaching and educating students of art-graphic faculties in class prints. It is emphasized that the issue of Printmaking as a specific discipline within the system of art education has not been studied sufficiently in today’s practice. It is determined that the training of students in printmaking is an integral part of the educational process at the Faculty of Arts and Graphics. While making prints, students obtain specific qualities such as cultural and professional skills to form an image in more conventional than in painting, plastic art forms At today’s workshops on printmaking only “simple” ways of studying this kind of graphics is practiced, elementary exercises involving printing material are fulfilled. This framework does not allow to reveal compositional contents of the topic, a certain compositional image cannot be created, neither esthetic or artistic side of education is taken into consideration. Furthermore, the task aimed at forming personality of the modern teacher of fine arts or artist-pedagogue is not realized. Particular attention is given to potentially creative features of printmaking. It is assumed that «Prints» is a specialized discipline which provides general information about its various types, various printing techniques each of which offers certain opportunities. The discipline includes a course of lectures and workshops aimed at adapting students’ ways of thinking to create engravings, miraculous textures, develops student’s fine sense of properties characterizing graphic material. The course takes into account strong interdisciplinary links with such special subjects as drawing, composition, decorative and applied arts. Based on the teaching experience, there are singled out general requirements to optimal combination of methods which facilitate teaching prints. The use of the entire set of training methods in their multiple combinations ensures high efficiency of the designated training performance training and students’ creative development. The interaction and interrelation of training methods are defined on condition that the objectives and training contents are integral. The leading role always belongs to the teacher, the success of the educational process depends on the extent how reasonably, appropriately or skillfully he / she applies specific training methods. According to the research it might be ascertained that a successful implementation of aesthetic education and art education intended for the students of arts and graphics faculties of pedagogical universities predetermines a full expansion of educational contents and creative and educational work on the basis of artistic traditions of classical art and printed graphics. It should be noted that the proposed theoretical - methodological teaching basics of the discipline "Prints" ensure the development of students’ creative activity within workshops on graphic art at the faculties of graph-ical arts.
