Stages of the concept of «forecasting» and its reflection in Chinese and Russian language consciousness

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of distinction between concepts «prediction» and «forecasting», which are considered in many ways in modern humanitarian knowledge: as autonomous concepts both genus-species and synthesized. In order to correctly determine their correlation this study is an attempt to trace the stages of formation of the concept of «forecasting», the origins of which date back to the prediction based on the affective behavior of the person, that is why due to the process of its evolution through the mythological-religious and astrological understanding, it was transformed into the actual forecast. There was the establishment of science prognostics, liberated from the scope of futurology, the object of which is intuitive (esoteric and religious) forecasting of the future. In the article the special attention is paid to the disclosure of the concept of «time perspective», reÀ ecting the national and cultural features in the vision of the future by representatives of East and West. With the help of reconstruction of dictionary de¿ nitions of the word «prospect» in the Chinese and Russian languages there has been suggested the prediction that the prospect for the Russian relates to the expectation with the new features and for the Chinese – with memories of the past for future planning. As a result, the conclusion has been formulated in the following way: forecasting as philosophical and scienti¿ c problems passing the stages of formation from the esoteric period through mythological-religious and astrological periods, has been based on understanding of the prospects of seeing a future that relates to time, in the Russian language consciousness, and in the last accounting for laying a wise way in the future, reÀ ecting the view of the world representatives of the Chinese ethnic group.
