Student Self-Government in the System of School Management in the Context of Humanistic Values of Modern Education

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of student self-government in the system modern of school management in the context of humanistic pedagogy. The author defines the terms “selfgovernment” and “student self-government” and analyses the legal basis for the activity of student self-government in Ukraine as well as the relevant literature. This is followed by a presentation of principles that should be followed when organizing the activity of school self-government bodies. The author argues that at present school self-government is part of a social movement not only in schools but also in the country and is therefore a potential driving force for the development of a democratic society.
