Study the Correlation between Dyslipidemia and essential Hypertension in Patients of 20-60 Year Age Group of Vidarbha (Maharashtra), India

Abstract

This study aims to study the abnormalities of lipid profile and their correlation in hypertensive patients. It was a case control study carried out over a period of 1 year at tertiary care hospital in department of medicine located in Central India. 200 Patients meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in the study. Total 200 non hypertensive controls were also included in the study. In hypertensive patients mean level of S. Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol and Triglycerides were found to be 216 ± 22.58, 32.45 ± 4.64, 175.85 ± 26.16 and 168.76 ± 12.18 respectively. In controls mean level of S. Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol and Triglycerides were found to be 174.32 ± 17.16, 50.34 ± 3.64, 121.48 ± 7.15 and 128.80 ± 9.90 respectively. Hypertensive patients shows elevated total cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL cholesterol and decreased HDL cholesterol. Early detection and prompt treatment of hypertension and dyslipidemia can prevent offset of cardiovascular diseases.
