Temporary militari governor-general of Galicia: ekonomic policies

Abstract
On the basis of archival material the economic situation of Galicia at the time of the temporary military governor-generalship is shown. The article researches the nature and content of economic activities of the Russian occupation authorities, civilian policy of the region, the problems in the industrial sector, the decline of agriculture. The prospect of Galicia integration into the Russian Empire induced occupation authorities to reactivate the industry, and their attention was paid to particularly important strategic industries in the region, such as oil re¿ ning, salt, brown coal and wood industries It is proved that in a wartime Russian occupation authorities were trying to stabilize the situation in agriculture, industry, transport, food, ¿ nancial and other sectors in the sphere of socio-economic policy. However, because of defeats of the Russian army in 1915 the region has suffered numerous requisitions of property, destruction of important industrial projects. In general, attempts to organize economic life of the region had not clear vision and solution, they were built to meet the urgent need of both military and civilian communities and did not bring any real pro¿ ts to Russian treasury.
