Tension free inguinal hernioplasty and its early complications: A retrospective study at BRIMS, Bidar

Abstract
Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the early complications of tension free inguinal hernioplasty for inguinal hernia repair and its efficacy. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 52 patients operated for inguinal hernia at BRIMS teaching hospital, using polypropylene mesh for tension free inguinal hernioplasty. Results: Out of the total 52 patients included in the study, 7 patients (13.4%) experienced numbness at the site of operation, 5 patients (9.6%) developed seroma, 6 patients (11.5%) developed scrotal swelling, 6 patients (11.5%) developed wound hematoma and 2 patients (3.8%) presented with neuralgia at the site of operative procedure. Conclusion: Mesh repair of inguinal hernia is a simple, safe and effective procedure with minimum early postoperative complications.
