TERMINOLOGICAL REPRESENTATION OF PRIMARY (UNIVERSAL / GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL / FUNDAMENTAL) CATEGORIES IN THE TERMINOLOGICAL SPHERE OF HIGH TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

The article represents the study of the actual issue of modern cognitive linguistics – the terminological representation of mental categories in the language of special purpose. In modern linguistics, cognitive aspects of the study of both language functioning and language nature become relevant. The special attention is focused now on the question of terminological representation of mental categories, the ways of implementing a special knowledge in a term. The aim of the article is to trace the peculiarities of the terminological representation of the primary (universal / general philosophical / fundamental) categories in the terminology of high technologies. The tasks of the study include the following stages of analysis: to consider the lexical categorical model of the terminology of high technologies, which can be represented as a conglomerate of lexical categories; to investigate the realization of the categories «matter», «movement», «space», «time», which most fully reflect the essence of the primary, empirical knowledge; to consider the subcategory division of each class within the four specified categories reflecting the basic characteristics of the universe organization. The scientific novelty of the paper is revealed in the attempt of introducing the fragment of the theory of Sociocognitive Terminology into scientific use in Ukraine. Attention is focused on primary (universal / general philosophical / fundamental) categories and their representation in the terminological sphere of high technologies. The main groups of primary categories are found by methods of lexical categorization, which underlie the classification of thematic groups, lexico-semantic groups, series of terms. The investigated universal categories are represented in a variety of subcategories, widely functioning in the field of high technologies.
