THE ADOPTION OF ENGLISH ACRONYMS IN THE CHINESE LEXICON

Abstract
English acronyms are known to have been finding their way into the lexicon of the Chinese language for quite some time. Presented in the given paper is an attempt to generalize on the major types of trans-codification of the acronym-carried concept(s) into a typologically divergent recipient lexicon and the socio-linguistic and pragmatic-semantic significance of these strategies.
