THE ARTISTIC AND AESTHETIC CONCEPTS OF THE MUR VS ОRTHODOX STANDARDS OF SOCIALIST REALISM: THE VALUE BORDER (on the material of the Dramatic Conference of the MUR)
Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філологія. Літературознавство" - Year 2017, Vol 301, Issue 289
Abstract
The present article is devoted to the analysis of the artistic world of dramatic works of Ukrainian emigrant writers: Morituri by I. Bagrianyi, The twins will meet again by I. Kostetskyi, The noise of a millstone by U. Samchuk and Domakha by L. Kovalenko. The aim of the research is to show aesthetic and axiological peculiarities of the little-known, above-mentioned plays of Ukrainian writers through the borders of Soviet/non-Soviet, identical/other, conscious/unconscious, and real/unreal. It should be empathized that such interpretation of the subject plays has not been actualized previously, but is the originality of the proposed method. As the title implies, this paper describes two different worldview concepts (cultural paradigm of Mystetskyi ukrainskyi ruh and socialist realism), which originally influenced the artistic style of the emigrant writers and the writers which stayed in Soviet Ukraine during Second World War. The theory of «velyka literatura» by U. Samchuk and the theory of «natsionalnо-organichny styl» by Y. Sherekh are also considered. The restrictive methodology of the socialist realism approved by Soviet ideologists opposes the freedom of creativity and the synthesis of the arts of the writers of MUR. Much attention is given to the problem of «bezgruntiarstvo», which is actualized in the writer’s plays due to forced emigration. The conclusion is made that personal reflections of the emigrant writers were based on the philosophical problems of preserving of national values, and consolidating the independence of Ukraine on geographical and metaphysical level.
