THE ARTISTIC PECULIARITIES OF BULGARIAN WOMEN’S CLOTHES IN THE XIX – BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract
In this article the author explores Bulgarian national women’s clothes and points out their peculiarities in the South of Ukraine in the XIX – beginning of the XX century. National traditions and customs that featured Bulgarian clothes had a great impact at types of clothes characteristic to the South of Ukraine and they are explored in this article. The main attention was paid to changes in the cutting, form and embroidery tradition of Eastern and North – Eastern Bulgarian clothes combined with national clothes of the South of Ukraine. Bulgarian costume of the South of Ukraine is explored in general ethnographic works of such scientists of XXth century as N. Kalashnikova, N. Gagen-Torn, O. Budina, U. Ivanova, N. Golant, I. Noskova and others. The research of ethnologist T. Agafonova is devoted to the development of traditional Bulgarian clothes of South-West of Ukraine in XIX-early XX centuries. But in the art history Bulgarian folk costume is still unexplored, though it’s first of all a masterpiece of decorative applied art, in other words, it’s an embodiment of Bulgarian folk creative potential. This research is devoted to the exploration of Bulgarian folk costume and its transformation analysis in the South of Ukraine in the XIX – early XX centuries. Bulgarian folk costume has been changing under the influence of the South of Ukraine ethnical environment and is also being influenced by time and economical issues. While the research, practical explorations of the villages of Odessa, Mykolaiv regions were held (the former territory of Herson and Bessarabian provinces). The exhibits of Odessa, Mykolaiv, folk and ethnographical museums were explored in this research.
