THE FORMATION OF SOCIAL COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF BUSINESS ENGLISH LEARNING BY STUDENTS

Abstract
The article is devoted to the description of the methods, approaches to form and to develop social competence in the process of business English learning in Higher education institutions. With the acceleration of globalization and the spread of Ukraine’s international business ties with other states on the political and economic levels, there is a growing need for highly skilled professionals not only in certain sectors but also capable of orienting themselves in the field of the international economy and business. In such circumstances, it is important future specialists in differ- ent fields to be aware of reality and the need of their future links with the international community. They should be also aware of one of their priority tasks of education that becomes the quality training of professionals capable of successful professional activities within the international community. The English language as a language of international communication becomes a necessity for a person. The introduction of a competent approach is considered here too. This competent approach requires the inclusion of new emphases in the process of learning a foreign language, namely, focusing on its practical application in domestic and professional communication. It is reported that the introduction of a model combining traditional methods of teaching a foreign language with modern educational technologies enables students to develop the social competence as an important component of their profes- sional readiness. Competency approach involves changing the priorities of education and pedagogical activities: from the accumulation of knowledge, to the formation and the development of students’ ability to practice in a social practice. The practical significance of the article is to describe a compact way the consideration of methods and principals of the forma- tion of foreign-language professional communication competence that determines the peculiarity of the teaching business English for students of different specialties. It is an effective mechanism for shaping the social competence of future professionals. According to the article, teaching of business English is carried out in the framework of cultural, linguistic, linguistic and communicative approaches. It allows immersing students in the world of a foreign language culture and creating conditions for intercultural dialogues, orienting students not only on the subject of study, but also on solving social problems through knowledge to the subject. It is spoken in details about such methodological approach that determines priority statements in the teaching business English, namely: a) work in pair; b) group work. Learning in groups is learning-collaboration that allows students to create conditions for effective communication and inter- personal interaction in solving professional tasks. There is an exchange of knowledge and ideas where each person makes its own contribution to the cognitive process under the condition. Such model allows maximum use of various non-verbal means of com- munication of facial expressions, gestures and emotions. Students are easily to handle express themselves independently. Different types of activities in practical English business classes are described, they contribute to successful mastery of linguistic material and basic communication competence of students and enhance their academic motivation, namely: simulated press-conferences, negotiations, presentations, customs control, telephone conversations. The article analyzes the cultural approach that means the departure from educational method focused exclusively on repro- ductive activity, and reorientation to methods ensuring the development of language not on the basis of simplified material, but through in-depth acquaintance with another national culture. Acquiring a foreign language is through acquaintance with a foreign language culture: works of art, religious beliefs, a system of values, norms and traditions. Thus, such model of studying foreign language develops social and personal competences of students. It leads to the widening of cultural knowledge of students that in globalized world is an essential requirement for the successful life of humanity. The notion “Theatre pedagogy” is considered in the article too. The method of theatre pedagogy is applied by teachers to form creative abilities, to develop memory, to form the ability to manage emotions that are necessary qualities of modern personality. The scientific article meets the requirement for the works of this kind, in its content, everything is logically interconnected. Work may be recommended for publication.
