The Formation of Students' Translation Skills in the Agrarian Institutions

Abstract

The paper presents the problems of forming the translation skills from Russian into Ukrainian written by students of the Agrarian specialities. It has been taken into consideration the text analysis, the difficulties in translation of scientific and technical literature. The author provides a series of forms in word-combinations and sentences editing, the texts for translation. Working with the lexics and the texts on the professional themes the agrarian terminology should be used. The most appropriate for translation is working with the analysis of the plot, detection method and interpreting, the dictionary work, the system of the exercises. It can encourage the students to do the translation professionally and to have the communicative approach. To ensure further development of correct translations the students should use the new skills of learning language and improve them. The article also focuses on the specific features in the perception of Russian professional texts by the students taking into account their training and language culture. A specific approach in dealing with the translation from Russian has been suggested for those students who do not speak this language or have not studied it at school or know it only at the common everyday level. The translation of the texts should be used to enrich the vocabulary, to develop and improve the language competence of the future forestry specialists. Also, the author substantiates the necessity of the professional texts and scientific style and proposes the key vision of the translation in publicistic style.
