THE IMPACT OF EDUCATION ON UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ INTENTIONS TO BECOME ENTREPRENEURS: A UKRAINIAN STUDY

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze, from a theory of planned behavior perspective, the role of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention. A conceptual model is developed based on the literature discussing the importance of entrepreneurship education in economic and social development. A number of hypotheses has been developed and tested in a survey of Ukrainian university students with the results suggesting that education program and other contextual factors do influence the intention of an individual to engage in entrepreneurial behavior . These results will be then discussed in terms of practical and theoretical recommendations and implications for education program development. The empirical results also highlight the importance of offered variable disciplines as well as practical-based learning, including short courses in business and management.
