The Integration of Immigrants into Poland during the European Migrant and Refugee Crisis

Journal Title: Chorzowskie Studia Polityczne - Year 2015, Vol 10, Issue

Abstract

The paper is focused on issues relating to the integration of immigrants into Poland during the European migrant and refugee crisis. While discussing approaches to the integration of immigrants, the author presents statistics on migration into Poland, the Poles’ attitudes toward aliens, and pertinent government policies and measures. In Poland, these policies and practices have been strongly affected by EU programs and funding as well as by the prevalent attitudes in the Polish society and the nature of immigration into Poland. Studies show that the integration measures have been inadequate and have not produced satisfactory results. The integration of immigrants (refugees) from the Middle East and North Africa with the Polish society is therefore likely to become a major challenge.
