THE NOVEL “TWELVE RINGS” BY YURI ANDRUKHOVYCH : MYSTIFICATION OF A BIOGRAPHY AS A MEANS OF MANIFESTING THE ORPHIC-NARCISSISTICOSMOSIS

Abstract

The article deals with the phenomenon of the mystification of the biography as one of the methods of post- modern play. The author argues that the mystified biography appears to be an ideal landscape capable of revealing the paradox of postmodern orphic-narcissistic models of Yuri Andrukhovych’s novel «Twelve rings». The Orphic-narcissistic complex, within which the bifurcate image of Antonych emerges, correlates with both the mysterious and the erotic, creates the text as body-spirit integrity. The archetypal images of Orpheus and Narcissus, accumulated in the mysterious image of the poet Antonych (and simultaneously scattered in other characters of the novel), are analyzed within the limits of erotic-tanatological osmosis and thus most accu- rately characterize the relativity of postmodern cognition. But at the same time, rootedness in them involves maximum individualization, deconstruction of the matrix, purely polysemantic and contradictory by nature.
