THE PARADIGM OF IDENTITIES IN E. KONONENKO’S ESSAYS

Abstract
The subject of scientific study is essays of a modern Ukrainian writer and translator E. Kononenko. The topic of the study opens up in comprehension of paradigm of identities in essays ‘Heroines and heroes’ and ‘In the queue for holy water’. The searches of identity of personality and ethnoidentity of people are relevant in the context of human aspirations of a person as traits loss of culture remain key throughout the history. The semantic dominant becomes firmly established in culture in the end of the XXth century and gets the original reading that also assists to development of essay genre, it is a cultural context appears favorable to its activation. Self-knowledge and cognition of the world, edge, personality occur in essay. Essays examine the problems of mankind and national order going back to literature as subject of reflection. A research aim is in the ground of plural nature of identity as quintessence of author’s essay thinking, and also leading the fact of priority of national and cultural form of identity that assists forming self-valuable sphere of personality, blocking the crisis process of identity that consists of destruction, blurring of attitudes, criteria and limits. First of all it is typical to the critical stages in society development and rapid changes in the material and spiritual culture segments. Cultural, historical and hermeneutical approaches are the key in the basis of theory and methodology of this study. The scientific novelty of research opens up in an attempt to define the peculiarities of paradigm of identities for the first time as specific nature of the author’ s essay thinking from a position of recreation the artist in text. The sphere of application results is literary criticism. The paradigm of identities used by E.Kononenko underlines heterogeneous nature of the essay thinking. The writer gives the special role in essays to national and cultural forms of identity as marker of modernization of Ukrainian society.
