THE PROBLEM OF FORMING FUTURE TEACHERS’ HEALTH CULTURE IN THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Abstract

The aim of the article is to highlight the problem of forming future teachers’ health culture in the process of professional training, awareness of the health importance in their future professional activities, determining their attitude towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as their own health. It is determined that young students’ significant health deterioration during their study is caused by social changes, life difficulties, a constant feeling of lack of time; chronic psychoemotional overstrain, a sharp restriction of the physical component in their life; nervous and mental fatigue, chronic fatigue, disruption of work and rest, irregular and unbalanced nutrition. In this connection, at a higher education institution an integral part of the training should comprise cultural and health education aimed at forming future teachers’ health culture, which is considered as a holistic entity that makes priority unity of the value of health, high activity in learning and transferring their deep knowledge about the ways and means of effective formation, preservation and promotion of health in the future professional pedagogical activity. The results of the questionnaire attested that students in their majority neither adhere to a healthy lifestyle nor think about their state of health. Therefore, in the process of professional training, it is necessary to pay great attention to the formation of future teachers’ health culture both at Physical Education classes and while teaching such academic disciplines as Pedagogics, Psychology, Valeology, Sociology and Educational Methods, during which it is possible to form sustainable skills of health-saving behaviour, communication, by using role-playing games, trainings, solving various pedagogical situations, creating projects aimed at the realization of health vigilant activities which students can use during their school and summer teaching practice, as well as in future professional activities. For this purpose, in the process of professional training it is necessary to inform future teachers about the main values of physical culture and sports; they should also acquire the knowledge and be aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle; a stable habit for daily physical exercises should be brought up; it is necessary to involve future teachers into out-of-class sports and play activities alongside with their involvement in sports clubs, etc.
